New Years Resolutions

Can you believe it? We’re already into the second week of the New Year. We hope your new year has gotten off to a magnificent start. If you’re one of the millions of folks who made the New Year’s Resolution to lose weight, statistically, you are only a week away from failure. Studies show that 95% us break our resolutions by the end of the second week of the year. We want you to be among the few who actually follow through and reach their goals. So, we have three tips for you.

Three Tips For Success

1- Make your resolutions/goals about what you do want rather than what you don’t want. For example: Instead of “I don’t want to be fat so I am going to lose weight,” make it, “I want to be at a healthy weight so I am going to lose weight.” It is a small distinction with big ramifications. We are more likely to work for things we want than for things we don’t.

2- Be your own hero! Stop waiting for someone or something to change you. The only way you will ever change is by changing, and doing so is up to you. You have to do the real work of acting and being different if you want to reach your goals. Be the person who says, “I did it, and so can you!”

3- Out with the old and in with the new. You are the product of your habits. If you want to be healthy and fit, you must get rid of the old habits that have created your overweight, out-of-shape body, and replace them with new habits which create a healthy, fit body. The best way to create new habits is by purposely practicing your new habit for at least a month. A great way to do that is by following a proven program. It is comforting to know all the energy, time, and emotion you invest in a new habit will produce the results you want. Note: Remember, following a program doesn’t mean you don’t have to do the work- you do. A program is a map showing how to get from “here,” to “there.” You still have to be your own hero.
