Make a Delicious Homemade Fruit Smoothie!

HOMEMADE FRUIT SMOOTHIE

Nothing's better than "homemade," and there aren't too many things tastier and more refreshing than a homemade smoothie.

Work of Art!

You can think of smoothie-making as art--you have a sort of blank slate in your empty blender; put whatever colored fruits and flavors you desire in your "work of art," push the appropriate buttons on your blender, and presto! You have your very own smoothie creation.

How To Do It

When making your homemade fruit smoothie, be sure to put the bigger, more firm fruits (that you've chopped into smaller chunks) in your blender first. Then add any smaller, softer fruits next (grapes, berries, peaches, mango chunks, etc.). We always add a bit of water (1/2 cup approximately, and any liquid will do if you're not a water-in-smoothie type of person).

Three to four whole fruits (whole oranges, bananas, pineapple, peaches, mangos, etc., or a large handful of smaller fruits, like berries along) with 1/2 to 1 cup of water will make enough fruit smoothie for 1-2 people.

Fresh, homemade fruit smoothies need to be eaten within the first 30 minutes of making, or you'll have a gross, clumpy, potentially bitter bunch of blop on your hands. They're best devoured, or sipped soon after you make them.

Essential EquipmentFor the smoothest smoothies the one essential thing is a high-speed blender. Our favorite blender, the blender we think makes the smoothest, creamiest smoothies, is the Blendtec Total Blender. It doesn't matter what fruits/veggies we pop into this blender--push a couple of buttons, and without a doubt, we have ourselves a silky smooth smoothie.
