Thank you for putting together and maintaining this site. I wanted to clarify a point about glycogen, glycogenase, and post-workout recovery that you mentioned in the above post.
You mention glycogen is a storage form of sugar, yes this is true. You also mention that glycogenase helps you make more glycogen, and this is actually opposite. Yes, the levels of glycogenase are high after a workout, but that is because the liver is breaking down sugar in the form of glycogen to glucose via the enzyme glycogenase. This is done to stabilize blood sugar and was actually occurring during the workout as well.
Eating a recovery smoothie, ends most of this breakdown via glycogenase because the body now has another source of glucose, absorption from the gut. All of this is controlled mostly via insulin and glucagon.
