I hear it all the time, so often in fact that I usually know when people are going to say it before the words come out of there mouth.
The exchange goes something like this:
Me(Talking to a client): So, we have defined your weight loss( or fitness, health) goal and the things you must do( not that you could or should do, but must) to achieve your goal. Now, in order to clearly map out your action plan we need to decide when you are going to start. When would you like to get started?
Client: I want to get started on Monday.
Everybody always wants to start achieving a healthier, fitter more vibrant life on Monday. Monday is some mythical time in the future when changing your lifestyle is easy and just happens, it is the perfect time. The problem though, like all mythical times , is that they don't exist. They never have and never will. This magic Monday never arrives. Something always comes up. "This Monday didn't work because of this or that. I will start next Monday." Of course that Monday doesn't come either.
Are you putting your health on hold waiting for the perfect Monday( by the way, it isn't just Monday, it is any day in the future you think is better than today)? Is Monday mentality keeping you fat and sick?
If your health goals are important to you start today. Start big or small, just start. Do something which moves you closer to who you want to be.
Go for a walk. Clean the junk food out of your pantry. Lift some weights. Do yoga. Drink a green smoothie.
