Raw Food & Fitness-Day 32

Today is day 32 of our 100-Day Raw Food & Fitness Challenge.

Kirsten and I are always amazed, and dismayed at how little support there is for people making healthy lifestyle choices, like eating a vegan diet and exercising. Shouldn't it be just the opposite? Shouldn't people be cheering us on when we decide to do something good for ourselves? The should, but they often don't. More often than not they sabotage our efforts with snide comments, criticism, outright disapproval and doing things to make our lifestyle change difficult.

So, today we wanted to thank all of you who watch our videos and follow our progress at www.vibrantvegan.com. Thank you for all your kind, helpful and supportive comments. You help to keep us inspired and motivated on our raw food journey. Thank you! We appreciate your support.

Lifestyle changes aren't always easy. Making changes to your lifestyle means changing your habits. Changing your habits is easier when you have support.

Support for your change can come from many sources. Your family and friends, websites, books, support groups and lifestyle & fitness coaches are all examples of people who could help and support you. It is important to let your would be supporters know that scolding, nagging, ridiculing, chastising and embarrassing are not forms of support.

You need helping relationships. They are vital when you are transforming your life. Becoming the best you possible requires a lot of effort and you inevitably run into obstacles. The thing is, most people try to overcome all their obstacles themselves. You don’t need to.

Let others help you overcome your obstacles. We are all interdependent. We live our lives in relation to one another. It is a sign of maturity and wisdom to recognize this and reach out to others for the help and support we need.

Just because you are being helped and supported doesn’t mean you get to slack off. No one can do the work for you. A friend, mentor or coach can give you a hand, but it is your own action which moves you forward.

In the end, the most important person you need to support, and nurture is you. You are the most important person in your life. Support yourself with kind, affirming words, be gentle with yourself when you slip up, pat yourself on the back when you are successful. Remind yourself often of who you want to be. You are becoming healthy and fit. Love yourself, support yourself and enjoy the process.
