It is day 51 of our 100-Day Raw Food & Fitness Journey.
What you eat and how much you move are two of the biggest influences on your health. If you eat a healthy, whole food, vegan diet and exercise regularly you can thrive.
While what you eat and how much you move are extremely important they aren't the only things that determine your health. Some other big factors include:
• The air you breathe
• The water you drink
• The amount of sunshine you get
• Your community of love and support
• The amount of rest you get
Well today I was reminded of the importance of rest. I start work at 5 am everyday and for the last few day of work I didn't get to bed until around 11 pm. So I've only had about 4.5 hours of sleep per night.
The other day on our run my legs felt like lead. Every step took so much effort. It was as if I were running through sand. I felt like if I didn't keep running I would fall asleep.
Last night I got to bed early, and since I didn't work today, slept in this morning. I got about 9 hours of sleep. Today on our run I felt amazing. I had so much energy. I was able to work at a much higher intensity. And now I feel splendid. All because of a good nights sleep. It is when we rest that our body heals and rejuvenates itself. During the day we are too busy digesting food, thinking and moving around for our body to do the important work of recuperation.
