It's Day 65 of mine and Derrick's 100-Day Raw Food and Fitness Journey, and today I wanted to share with you five quick, easy, and oh so very delicious things you can do with either and apple or banana. Of course the simplest way to eat either piece of fruit is as they are (peel the banana, of course), but for some variety here are some other ways to eat/prepare these 2 lovely fruits.
I'll start with some yummy suggestions for the apples(we eat about 5 pounds of this raw food everyday) most of us have in our homes everyday:
1. Slice your apple in about 8 slices and dip those slices into one (or more) of the yummy dips/drizzles I shared recipes for a couple weeks ago.
2. Rinse 4-6 Romaine lettuce leaves, set aside. Slice an apple into several slices. Place 2-3 apple slices on a lettuce leaf, roll those yummy apple slices up, and there you have a sort of apple-lettuce burrito! Sprinkle some chopped nuts over the apples before you roll for some added crunch.
3. Cut an apple into small chunks, place them into a bowl, then sprinkle 1 tablespoon of coconut flakes and 1-2 teaspoons of chopped raw nuts over the apples. Stir and enjoy!
4. Cut an apple into small chunks and add to a fruit salad!
5. Cut your magical apple into small chunks and toss with a salad of mixed greens.
Now for 5 tasty things to do with a banana(we eat about 10 pounds of this raw food everyday):
1. Slice a banana vertically/long-wise down the center, then drizzle on of those sumptuous sauces from a couple weeks ago, over the slice banana.
2. Slice a banana into small pieces, then toss with a couple teaspoons of dried fruit and nuts!
3. In a small bowl, mash 1 banana with 1/3-1/2 of an avocado; if you'd rather, put the banana and avocado in your blender/food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. Yummy!
4. Roll a banana, or banana pieces, up in some of those rinsed lettuce leaves!
5. Toss a banana in a smoothie! Bananas make any smoothie all the more sweet and smooth and spectacularly delicious!
Ok, there you have 10 more ways to make your healthy eating adventures all the more exciting and totally tasty!
