Raw Food & Fitness-Day 72

A question we have been getting from day 1 of our Raw Food & Fitness Journey: "Isn't eating that much fruit bad for you? Isn't it too much sugar?"

The short answer is: No!

The slightly longer answer is: No, it isn't.

Parts vs. Wholes

This is a classic case of focusing on parts vs. wholes. Since we have been conditioned to narrowly focus on nutrients and worry about getting enough of this or that specific nutrient(parts) we end up making poor food choices. We make food choices because of their parts vs. the synergistic wholes.

There is nothing wrong with fruit, even 20-30 pieces of fruit a day. Fruit is a whole foods full of water, carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, vitamins, minerals, etc. Fruit fuels and nourishes us.

Like I said, fruit is a whole food. Whole foods are health producing. Single nutrients are not. We evolved eating whole foods. Our body understands whole foods. Whole foods make us heathy and vibrant.

Focusing on nutrients reminds me of the way diabetes is most commonly treated. Diabetics are told to eat fewer carbohydrates(sugars) to control their blood sugar

The diabetics focus on sugar(a part) causes them to choose to "low-sugar" food products that high in fat and low in vitamins and minerals, while avoiding nutrient dense "high-sugar" real foods like fruit. The low-sugar food products end up destroying their health and doing nothing to cure diabetes.

Focus on eating whole, unprocessed raw food and not only will you have radiant health, you can have all the fruit you want!
